Frank Buglioni Q And A

Much to my delight I got to put my questions to unbeaten super-middleweight prospect Frank 'Wise Guy' Buglioni.

Me: Hi Frank, thanks again for answering my questions. Last time out you impressed fans with a 5th round TKO victory over Gaetano Nespro. How do you rate your own performance?

Frank: I felt it was definitely an improvement upon my last performances and I was obviously pleased with the result and by the means that  I got there, but myself and Mark Tibbs saw quite a few elements that we were not happy with and I have been working to rectify and eliminate the weak spots in my boxing style.

Me: You are meant to be fighting at the Copperbox on the 12th April, is there any news on an opponent as yet?

Frank:  I will be against Sergey Khomitsky, the guy who gave Martin Murray a tough fight last time out, so a big step up and my toughest test to date. We have a game plan to defeat him and I'll be putting that in place come fight night. He's been the distance against Martin Murray twice so we do no expect it will be an early nights work, but in fact a tough hard night!

Me: How is training going and how confident of success are you heading into this fight?

Frank:  Training has been spot on once again, and fortunately I've had some tough experienced sparring which I have learnt from. It is between the fights when all the learning is done.

Me: Provided you come through the next fight successfully what's next for you?

Frank: I will be on the Chisora v Fury undercard in Manchester July 26th, but the only target in my sights is April 12th and a solid performance and victory.

Me: Is there anyone specifically out there who you would love to fight and why?

Frank: The big domestic fights will happen further down the line, but right now all I'm interested in is showcasing some more improvements and getting a good victory in April.

Me: With you being an up and coming super-middleweight and the country being enthralled with the Froch v Groves rematch, I have to get your opinion on the fight and who wins?

Frank: I think it will be more of a chess match this time round, both fighters know they can hurt one another so perhaps it will be a more cagey fight. I think Groves may edge this one on points due to being fresher and younger.

Me: How far do you think that you can go in the sport and what are your aims and dreams for your career?

Frank: I am in the sport to be a world champion and I wouldn't be training as hard as I do and sacrificing as much as I do if I didn't think I could get to that level.

Me: Considering you are still an up and coming prospect and by no means the finished article you have a great fanbase, is there anything that you would like to say to your fans?

Frank:  That is the main thing I am truly thankful for, that and the fact I have very wise and experienced people in Mark Tibbs and Frank Warren guiding my career. The support is phenomenal, on fight night they make it something special, anyone that has been to one of my fights comments on the crowd. The energy and atmosphere they create fills me with pride and confidence. It's the thought of all those people being ringside with me that makes training and dieting that bit easier and I look forward to fighting in front of them the whole way through my camp

Me: Finally can you explain your nickname of 'Wise guy' and where it comes from.

Frank: My favourite film is Goodfellas and after chatting with my agent about it, he said well you've got an Italian name, you can be the wise guy. The rest is history!

Me: Thanks again and all the best with your next fight.

Frank: Cheers Sam.
