Ashley 'The Pounder' George

Come March 25th at Westcroft Leisure Centre Ashley 'The Pounder' George will take to the ring to make his eagerly anticipated white collar debut.

Having signed a promotional deal With Big Sexy Promotions in association with Dynasty Entertainments and a management deal with G Empire Trading, 'The Pounder' is ready to send shock waves throughout the light heavyweight division.

Known as 'The Pounder' due to his vicious assaults to the body, George's style is best described as a being like a mixture of world renowned hard-men Phillip Mitchell and Terence McCann combined with the power and speed of a David Haye.

Standing at 5ft 11" or 6 ft in shoes with a chiselled physique George is an all-action fighter who likes to get out of the blocks quickly looking to force his opponent onto the back foot whilst shouting Oh Carol.

His warrior mentality cannot be questioned with the heart of 20 men combining with his athletics background to create a truly frightful in the ring prospect.

For many years speculation as to when George would finally make his competitive debut has been rife but with the charity on his mind, the decision has been made to lace up the gloves. With his 30's looming as his peak years begin to slip away it is a case of now or never for George to begin his assault on the light heavyweight division.

With a legion of supporters looking to George for Inspiration, he has undergone a gruelling training regime that will see him enter the ring in peak physical condition. Speculation has been widespread that sparring partners have been forced to leave the camp after being found shaking in a corner after trading blows with George.

Such dedication to his craft has not always been guaranteed with George given his playboy lifestyle and out of ring issues at times leading him astray.

Controversy seems to follow him with rumours of nightclub brawls with bouncers widely publicised. George struggles to stay humble with the grandeur that goes with such natural talent appearing to go to his head.

With the help of an anonymous group known only as 'The Legionaries', George has regained his focus and is determined to make up for lost time.

Whilst many a fighter only thinks of their upcoming fight George isn't afraid to look beyond his debut with his sights clearly set on the top of the sport. Names such as world champions Andre Ward and Adonis Stevenson are regularly mentioned as future opponents who he feels comfortable in dispatching of in a brutal fashion.

Whilst such talk is of course for another day, it is hard not to get too far ahead of yourself when talking about such an exciting prospect as George. It is not very often in the sport of boxing that you sit back and are wowed by the skills of a fighter but with George that certainly is the case.

With just over a month until fight night, excitement is quickly building for the debut of the next star of the light heavyweight division. Whilst George will have to back up all the talk in the ring for now only one phrase can truly describe him, Ashley George,  what a man!

On a serious note, as mentioned previously my good friend Ash is fighting for charity with a JustGiving page set up for donations to Cancer Research. Any donations would be greatly appreciated so please dig deep and click here.
